President's Message
December 2006
by Tracey Amernick, CPCE
Greetings Members,
It's been a terrific year so far for the Chapter We had great programs, and now we can look forward to our well deserved break for the Holidays.
We enjoyed a wonderful holiday party along with our friends from ISES, at the Sheraton in Mission Valley. Thanks again to everyone from both chapters who contributed to making it a fitting finish to a great year.
That's our last meeting until February 13th 2007, so please try to make it when we reconvene. The event calender already has the meetings sheduled all the way through May.
Several members of the Board are off to the Leadership Conference, and will also be meeting for a full day's retreat in January to create the gameplan for your 2007 Nace experience. See you in in the new year!

"Nace and ISES have a holiday hit"
Once again, two of San Diego’s most dynamic Hospitality Associations teamed up to present the Holiday Party of the Season as NACE and ISES pooled resources and guest lists to produce the well-attended and ever-popular event held on Tuesday December 12th at The Sheraton Harbor Island.
During cocktail hour members and their guests were treated to a wonderland of activities with Dance Heads, Professional Digital Photography, and Impressions Chocolate each snapping and taping away to provide us with personalized photos, chocolates and DVD’s to take home. Hors d’oeuvres were courtesy of Menu Inspirations/Appetizer’s and Inc, and the bars stayed busy as Music as You Like It’s Roving Magician worked the crowd and we relaxed for a few hours during our busiest season.
The ballroom was set with luxurious fabrics that were accented by warm lighting, and the room absolutely glowed with comfort and goodwill as hues of gold and amber sparkled from centerpieces. Sumptuous chocolates and lavish burgundies were the colors this year by BBJ Linen, Chameleon Chair Collection, Special Event Productions, Entertainment at Large, San Diego Event Décor Company, and Velocity Audio Visual. Dreamworld Backdrops set the stage and our own magnificent Duffy Fainer was the Emcee. Duffy kept the announcements brief which allowed everyone to mingle, dine, and dance to the fabulous sounds of the Xceptions!
Special thanks go to the Staff of the Sheraton for a delicious holiday meal and service that was simply perfect. Banquet servers and captains were inconspicuous yet ever-present as they served one of the finest dinners we’ve enjoyed this year.
By the end of the evening toys and gifts were overflowing from underneath of the Christmas tree set next to the stage as “The Xceptions” played hits late into the evening that kept the dance floor full and our members entertained.
San Diego NACE Wishes You and Yours A Very Happy and Blessed Holiday Season!

| Affiliate's Corner
by Merrylin Brichmann
Our affiliate showcasers get a 3-5 minute window to tell all the members about their special field of expertise. It is much more effective than handing out brochures or business cards and I hope that all affiliates will take advantage of this great opportunity! All you have to do is email or call me, your affiliate representative for NACE. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you promote your business to our NACE members. Happy Holidays!
“After a ringing endorsement from the House of Blues, which told us “this band isn’t just good, it’s awesome”, NACE and ISES decided to have one of the hottest acts in Southern California, The Xceptions, perform for our Holiday Party. We weren’t disappointed.
They started during dinner with some hauntingly beautiful acoustic electric music, playing the likes of Jimmy Buffet, Sheryl Crow, Bangles, and Abba, and then for dancing they rocked us with incredible foot-stomping variety, ranging from Classic Rock, Mo-Town, Latin, to Country, along with some great contemporary tunes. The guys were cool, the girls were hot, and they moved on stage with some great choreography and costumes.
This band has played Boston, Chicago, Vegas, Park City, and LA as well as San Diego, and they have performed for Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Raytheon, Lehman Brothers, Harley Davidson, and a host of local companies and major charities. Even better, they are members of NACE, ISES, and MPI, and they are committed to our industry. While we were lucky to have them donate their talent and time and lush vocals to our associations, they tell us they were thrilled to have the opportunity. Let’s reward The Xceptions with gigs for some of your upcoming client events.”

Community Service
by Nancy Changnon-Baron
December 2006:Friends of Scott + Toys forTots
This year, we've chosen Friends of Scott as the foundation to direct our community service and fundraising for. Friends of Scott is a non-profit organization that was founded in memory of Scott Delgadillo who lost his life to childhood cancer. The Friends of Scott Foundation (FSF) is committed to helping children with cancer and their families. San Diego NACE will help to contribute money and support, to ensure they receive the emotional and financial support needed to cope with this devastating disease. FSF strives to bring Childhood Cancer Awareness to the community.
Proceeds benefited each chapter’s Education Programs, while funds were also raised for the “Friend’s of Scott Charity”.100 Toys were collected for the annual “Toys For Tots” crusade, and the Marines sent two uniformed representatives who spoke on their behalf.
