Job description:
Respond in a

leads, telephone
and walk-in
inquiries.
Achieve monthly
sales goals
and accurately
forecast all
Catering bookings.
Areas of concentration
for this position
are social and
mid-level corporate.
Ensure orderly
and accurate
catering sales
files and computerization
of such files
are maintained.
Candidates must
be able to execute
contracts in
compliance with
all checklists,
standards and
hotel policies.
Prepare catering
contracts, proposals
and event orders,
and follow-up
on all function
details with
support departments.
Three years
prior group
and or local
catering experience
required, with
strong Sales
and negotiating
skills needed.
Experience with
Delphi or other
sales management
database
Must have expertise
in food and
beverage knowledge
in menu planning
Participate
in local industry
networking organizations
on a regular
basis.
Must be knowledgeable
in all areas
of banquet and
event etiquette,
guest relations
and service
standards and
provide courteous
and helpful
service to guests
at all times.

and operational
demands with

of professionalism,
operating often
with time sensitive
deadlines.
Ability to work
in a fast paced

DESCRIPTION: Under
the direction of the
FS Coordinator, the
incumbent is responsible
for the front of the
house operations of
the UCSD Catering
at the Price Center
and Eucalyptus Point
locations. This includes
organizing, planning,
staffing, training,
implementation of
computerized systems,
controlling equipment
and inventory maintenance,
security, and assisting
with budgeting and
financial management.
Manager is responsible
for providing innovative
leadership and a climate
of growth for both
staff and facility.
Operating needs of
the department require
varied work schedules,
(i.e., a.m., p.m.,
and/or weekend shifts
and/or 10 hour workday).
Employees may be required
to take off (vacation
or temporary layoff)
during scheduled operational
shutdown periods,
such as Christmas,
Spring & Summer
breaks. Health codes
require prescribed
uniform, hair covering,
and good personal
hygiene. Meal schedules

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
in Food Service
Management of related
field, or an equivalent
combination of education
and strong demonstrated
food service management
experience, preferably
in a college and
university food
service, retail,
or hotel operation.
- Management skills
to organize, schedule,
delegate, monitor,
and evaluate staff.
Knowledge and skills
in time management
for successful completion
of goals.
- Knowledge and
skill in all food
service operational
functions for maximum
utilization and
evaluation of personnel
performance and
staffing.
- Knowledge of/and
skill in food purchasing,
including product
specifications and
use of formal bidding/award
systems.
- Analytical skills
to provide effective
assessment of statistical
data and feedback
to both Food Service
Director and immediate
staff on operational
and fiscal status
of each unit.
- Reading, writing
and English language
skills; to write
accurate and grammatically
correct reports,
unit goals, evaluations,
and communicate
effectively with
staff, customers,
vendors, and other
departments.
- Mathematical
and accounting skills
to interpret financial
data, weekly reports,
the General Campus
Ledger, and make
recommendations
and proposals for
retail prices, as
well as unit and
departmental budgets.
- Technical computer
systems knowledge
in both hardware
and software. Preferred
knowledge of computer
applications in
a food service operation.
This includes forecasting
of inventory, production,
recipe file, access
control, time and
attendance.
- Knowledge of/and
skill in negotiating,
including listening
skills, and skills
in persuasion, to
reach compromise
among people with
different viewpoints.
- Culinary skill
and knowledge in
all aspects of volume
and gourmet food
preparation.
- Knowledge of

sanitation, safety,
