Our April Meeting

San Diego NACE members and guests were hosted at The Hilton San Diego on Harbor Island for their April 10, 2012 monthly meeting.  An hour prior to the event, our board meeting took place in the Skyline/Lindbergh room on the 9th floor which provides a one of a kind view of the downtown San Diego Skyline.

The networking hour took place in the Spinnaker Room and Patio which offered amazing views of the harbor.  The Spinnaker Patio has an intimate setting for wedding ceremonies and special events.  On the patio members enjoyed wine and beer along with passed hors d’oeuvres consisting of savory mini bites! Members also had the opportunity to have a wine glass engraved provided by Tom Bwarie owner of Signature Hand Engraving.

Once members entered the Marina Ballroom and found their seats Merrylin Brichmann from Artistic Productions greeted everyone and acknowledged our gracious host Chris Agrippe.  Chris has been a board member, active participant and creative influence for several NACE chapters for 20+ years, but especially a tireless contributor and advisor for our San Diego Chapter.

Our guest speaker Executive Chef, Katherine Humphus engaged everyone with her personalized presentation in becoming the executive chef at BO-beau kitchen + bar for the Cohn Restaurant Group. In detail, she highlighted how the hospitality industry captured her and why she still loves it.  As our guest made everyone laugh, dinner was being served. Members dined on a fabulous meal of Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Salad with Goat Cheese & Pesto Vinaigrette, Pan-Seared Halibut with Chili Shrimp Ragout, Confit Potatoes, Baby Bok Choy with Star Anise Lemon Jam & Fresh Micro Herbs followed by delicious ice cream chilled with liquid nitrogen provided by Sensational Treats. Vegetarians had the option of Stuffed Eggplant Wellington with Quinoa.

Tim Altbaum owner of Tim Altbaum Productions was our event professional speaker for April. He briefly took us on a journey on how he started his business and briefly informed everyone of his services and what sets his team apart.  We are lucky to have him as part of our NACE family.

We'd like to thank everyone who attended the meeting including our sponsors:

Get the most value for your NACE investment

I encourage you all to get the most value for your NACE investment.  Be a "regular", make new and meaningful relationships with other members, and attend with the intention of "learning something new".  That's the mission of NACE, and we're all better professionals as a result.

A Big Thank You to our 2 event professionals that contributed to our last month's meeting....Emilio Azevedo Photography and Tim Altbaum Productions.  Emilio Azevedo, of Emilio Azevedo Photography captured the night’s moments and essence with over 130 shots he took throughout the event. They are
posted on the San Diego NACE Facebook Page.  So please have a look, find yourself and see what a great time was had by all.

We also had a great speech and display set by Tim Altbaum Productions. Who knew that studying as a Pre Med, then going into Network Security with the Navy would end you up in the field of Disc Jockey. It goes to show that you should never let go of your dreams.

If you want to showcase your business at an upcoming monthly meeting, please call 619-220-884 or email me at flowers@artisticflorals.com , so I can get you on the upcoming schedule.  Happy Networking!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Get Involved

We all have another opportunity to help our fellow San Diegans. There are so many people who are suffering from critical illnesses and are too ill to fix meals for themselves or are low-income and as a result are suffering from malnutrition.

For this reason Mama’s Kitchen was created to offer nutritional support by way of a home-delivered meal service. Mama's Kitchen provides food, compassion and hope to over 1,300 people a year in San Diego County who are living with AIDS and cancer. Men, women and children who are critically ill receive 3 meals a day, 7 days a week free of charge due to the donations and services of Mama’s Kitchen.

Let’s all be generous and help out those who need our care by bringing your food donation. Please bring your donation to our June meeting at the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. Below is a suggested list that they have provided but any non-perishable nutritious food is greatly appreciated.

Box of cereal, package of flour, instant oatmeal packets, bottle cooking oil, jar of peanut butter, jar of jelly, bag of rice, package of dried beans, spaghetti sauce, box of pasta, packets of pasta dinners, canned goods (fruits, soups, vegetables, chili, pasta & beans), macaroni & cheese, tuna fish/salmon, cake mixes & icing, small box of dry milk.

Let’s wow Mama’s Kitchen by bringing them a ton of our food donations in June, please start a bag and buy a few items each time you go to the store. Giving a helping hand to another tells the universe you are a source of unlimited abundance.

Please join us, you will get to know others better and enjoy giving back. Please contact me if you want to go and I will email you the information ~deborah@deborahyoung.com  or call me at 619-239-3306.
